About ESMA Museum and Site of Memory
During the military dictatorship of 1976 to 1983, the Officers’ Quarters of the ESMA, the former navy mechanics school on the Avenida del Libertador in Núñez, was used to hold captive opponents abducted in Buenos Aires, to interrogate and torture them, and to kill them, in UNESCO’s words. The building is now the ESMA Museum and Site of Memory, inscribed on the World Heritage list in 2023. Visit with respect; check visiting hours and guided tours before you go. The exhibition is not suitable for young children.
Opening hours, prices and seasonal openings change, so please check with ESMA Museum and Site of Memory before you go.
