About The Recoleta Cemetery
The Cementerio de la Recoleta, beside the Basílica del Pilar, is a city of mausoleums in marble, granite and bronze, built by the families of Buenos Aires from the 19th century onwards; it is run by the city (buenosaires.gob.ar). Many visitors look for the tomb of Eva Perón. Walk slowly, look up at the sculpture, and dress respectfully: it is still a working cemetery.
